Cubic Cuvettes

Quartz cubic cuvettes (square sample cells) with a 20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm or 50 mm path length for absorbance, fluorescence and photometric measurement. Two-way, four-way and five-way light paths, with or without a matching quartz lid, in body heights from 22 mm to 55 mm. Japanese JGS1 fused silica, >83% transmittance, 200–2,500 nm wavelength, resistant to 600 ℃.

Scuvette cubic cuvettes are square quartz sample cells with four precision-polished walls and a defined 20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm or 50 mm path length. Choose a two-way cell for routine absorbance, a four-way cell for fluorescence and multi-angle detection, or a five-way cell when you need an extra port for stirring, temperature probes or gas inlet. Every body is fused one-piece from Japanese JGS1 silica — no adhesive, no cemented seams — so the light path stays stress-free and chemically inert.

Open-top cells are supplied ready to use; lidded cells ship with a matched quartz lid that reduces evaporation and protects volatile or anaerobic samples. Two-way cells are offered in High Transmittance (Q mark) and High Precision (SF mark) grades for demanding quantitative work. Browse all twenty-eight configurations below or request a custom cubic cuvette.

Cubic Cuvettes — Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cubic cuvette?

A cubic (long-path) cuvette extends the optical path to 20, 30, 40 or 50 mm while keeping the standard 12.5 mm external width, so it drops into a normal spectrophotometer cell holder. The longer path lets you measure more dilute samples without pre-concentration. See our path-length guide.

When should I use a long-path cubic cuvette instead of a 10 mm cell?

Use one when your analyte is too dilute for a standard 10 mm cell — environmental water, DOC / dissolved organic matter, chlorophyll and turbidity measurements all benefit. Per the Beer–Lambert law (A = εcl), a longer path increases absorbance for the same concentration. Compare long-path options.

Do cubic cuvettes fit standard holders?

Yes. They keep the standard 12.5 mm external width used by most UV-Vis spectrophotometers, so they fit standard 10 mm holders; only the light-path dimension is longer. Check the size chart.

Which path length should I choose — 20, 30, 40 or 50 mm?

Pick the shortest path that gives a readable absorbance for your concentration: 20–30 mm for moderately dilute samples, 40–50 mm for very dilute ones. Our path-length guide walks through the calculation.

Are cubic cuvettes made from quartz?

Yes. They are machined from JGS1 synthetic fused silica (SiO2 ≥ 99.99%) for full 190–2500 nm UV-Vis-NIR transmission. If your instrument is visible-only, quartz vs glass explains when glass is enough.

Can cubic cuvettes be customized?

Yes. Custom path lengths, widths and OEM / white-label service are available with no minimum order quantity. Contact our team with your drawing or required dimensions.
