A practical cleaning protocol for quartz cuvettes — rinsing, solvent steps, ultrasonic baths, drying and storage — plus what to avoid to keep optical windows scratch-free.
Never wipe a dry cuvette. Dust and particles act as abrasive grit — wiping a dry window scratches it. Always rinse before you touch the optical faces.
Ultrasonic baths are effective for glued (cemented) cells only when kept short and cool: 1–2 minutes in room-temperature mild detergent or water. Prolonged ultrasonic agitation can weaken the glue bond. For one-piece sintered or moulded cells, longer ultrasonic cycles are fine.

Store clean, dry cells in their plastic box, window surfaces protected, away from dust. For long-term storage, fill nothing — keep them dry and capped.
