Open demountable cells for powder and solid-sample fluorescence. JGS1 fused silica windows with a thin spacer define the optical path; the cover glass presses the sample flat for reproducible fluorescence measurements on Edinburgh, Hitachi and similar spectrophotometers. Choose glue-bonded cells for standard neutral samples, or optically bonded cells for high chemical and thermal resistance.
0.1–2 mm optical path, 30–600 µL, JGS1 fused silica with cover glass and optional aluminum holder. For powder fluorescence on Edinburgh / Hitachi spectrophotometers.

View Product →The sample powder is placed on the lower JGS1 fused silica window, the spacer defines the path length, and the cover glass gently presses the powder into a flat, optically reproducible layer. Excitation light passes through the cell at right angles to the fluorescence emission path. The optional black anodized aluminum holder lets the cell stand vertically in standard 12.5 × 12.5 mm cuvette compartments.
These demountable cells are designed for solid-state and powder fluorescence where the sample must be recovered after measurement. Typical uses include:
Use only neutral, dry powders or soft solids. The adhesive bond is not resistant to strong acids, alkalis, hydrofluoric acid or most organic solvents. After use, remove the cover glass, tap out the powder, and clean both windows with lens tissue or a soft cloth. Store windows separated to avoid scratching.
Place the lower window on a flat surface, add the spacer, deposit the powder sample, and lay the cover glass on top. If using the aluminum holder, insert the assembly and stand it vertically in the sample compartment. Avoid over-tightening, which can crack the windows.
No. The glue-bonded demountable cell is open on the sides and is intended for neutral dry powders or soft solids only. For liquid samples, use our standard quartz micro cuvettes or flow cells.
The optional aluminum holder is sized for standard 12.5 × 12.5 mm cuvette compartments and is commonly used with Edinburgh and Hitachi fluorescence spectrophotometers. Contact us if you need a custom holder geometry.
