JGS1 is the Japanese designation for the highest-purity grade of synthetic fused silica, produced by vapor-phase hydrolysis. With metal impurities below 1 ppm and OH below 5 ppm it transmits from the deep UV (cut-off ≈ 200 nm) through the visible and into the near-IR to 2500 nm — the widest range of any common optical material. Plates are supplied clean-room packed and ready for spectroscopy or high-temperature use.
